Saving Money While Being Eco-Friendly

From the book Go Green, Live Rich come 4 eco-friendly tips that will add up to big savings:

1) improve your car's fuel economy: save $884 annually

2) seal leaks in your home to reduce heating and cooling needs; save $129

3) adjust thermostat in either direction 3 degrees: save $85

4) Bring lunch to work (in reusable containers): save $1,560

Total savings: $3,758 per year, or approximately $10 a day.

Other ways to save money and the environment include:

- buy from the bulk bins

- take alternative transportation

- turn off lights and appliances when not in use

- line dry clothes

- avoid pre-made, pre-packaged foods

- get your exercise outdoors (biking, walking, running, swimming, skiing, gardening, etc.) instead of on machines in the gym

- eat more vegetarian meals
