Glenn Beck is Dangerous

Van Jones, the founder of Green For All and the, now former, White House green jobs czar and an all around good guy resigned today because of Glenn Beck and his ditto head's over at Fox News staging a smear campaign. Yes, it was stupid of Jones to sign on with the 9/11 Truthers, but worse than Dick Cheney being part of PNAC? Give me a break! 

Anyway, Glenn Beck's vendetta against Jones, in my opinion, was about the ColorofChange campaign which successfully got many advertisers to pull their support of Beck's show. Jones was not part of the campaign, but he helped found the organization. I also think that Beck is, at his core, a racist and a race-baiter. No, he doesn't use the N word, he just calls every black person in the administration, including the president, a socialist or a communist or a racist.

Jones is one of the smartest people when it comes to green collar jobs, clean energy and environmental justice. Having his voice in the administration was a great thing for those who care about climate change and the environment. It is a great loss and I am sick and tired of the moronic twits over at Fox News setting the agenda. I had the distinct displeasure of it being on when I was in Wyoming and the news of the day was, egads, the President wants to talk to children about the importance of education. How dare he?

Please join me in signing the ColorofChange petition to Beck's advertisers. Activa (Dannon) and a few others are left, let them know how you feel about Beck and why they shouldn't support his brand of crazy hate.

Or go further and let the companies that advertise on Fox News know how you feel. Here is a list and a website dedicated to boycotting Fox News. I am all for varied voices, but there is nothing fair or balanced about Fox. There is hardly even news. It has become a platform for bigots and liars and they need to stop.

They have successfully politicized issues like clean energy and climate change, that should not be partisan issues. For goodness sake, Teddy Roosevelt was the first environmentally conscientious president and Nixon signed the Clean Air Act! What could be more conservative than conservation? Fox News is about getting their audience of contrarians riled up through fear mongering, name calling and misinformation. It is time they stopped. So help me hit them where they live - their advertisers.
